As of August 2023, India passed a data protection law - The Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP), to provide clear data privacy obligations and responsible data management practices. The Act aims to establish a comprehensive legal framework to govern digital personal data protection in India.
Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP), applies to the processing of digital personal data within the territory of India collected online or offline and later digitized. It is also applicable to processing of digital personal data outside the territory of India, if it involves providing goods or services to the data principals within the territory of India.
